Conundrum 05:14
CONUNDRUM Inside the humdrum, he was caught up in a grand conundrum And the manual he was carrying was stuffed with hieroglyphics Dead drops underneath park benches, MI5 He woke up trapped in a dream at dawn, And he was someone else’s clown Stuck in a labrynth of his own making Travelling back in time, and he was changing Turned inside out, he was floating now Sliding like Tracey Thunderbird Screaming at Munch as he careened down the tunnel Heading for hell, and there was no mistaking You jumped the hedge and escaped the maze You’re magnificent, harlequin The castle grounds, they were all ablaze Still they let you in, lion’s den Demons awaited him down in the scullery, Smoking in armoured suits and hollow laughter Jester sneaking down the stairs, hellbent on frivolity Found the sewer, left the ghouls in misery Spewed out on the beach at night Ignoring the balloon that lay there He rose unaided and made for the blue And now the streets on which he walks, they are rivers in the sky The seasnakes writhing around in stratospheric flume of joy Riding along on the song of a serpent Totally helical twist in the sky They wrapped him in a conundrum, bound in a riddle, off they fly Gazing in joy at the receding horizon, Space is his home now, too late for goodbyes Descending now in a ball of fire He’s a harlequin once again He thought this all was a dream, it’s not So malevolent in his head He woke up trapped in a co...nun...drum He lay there wrapped in a co...nun...drum
